IC Information:

Character Name: Temari

Character Journal: Suna_Bitch

Canon: Naruto

Point in Canon: Just after the Chunin Exams, before coming back for Sasuke Retrieval Arc.

Age: 15

Birthday: August 23rd

Appearance: She had blue eyes and blond hair, which is pulled into four pigtails. Her outfit consists of a single light purple-colored, off-the-shoulders garment that extends to halfway down her thighs, with a red sash tied around her waist. In addition to incorporating fishnet worn over her right calf and her left thigh, she also wears her headband around her neck. Her hair bands vary in color, though most often, she prefers darker shades. The most common colors are black, red, and varying shades of purple.

Abilities: She excels at long-range combat and is a strategist, easily able to determine an average opponents weakness in a very short time.
Her usual combat is performed with a giant iron fan that can double as a club or a mode of transportation. With the right amount of control, she can glide upon the wind, the fan easily supporting her weight and possibly one other person.
On her fan are three purple circles, called “stars”, that increase the power of her attacks. With all three stars revealed, she can create slicing whirlwinds that she can direct with her chakra. Her winds let her attack from a great distance and level a battlefield in any way that would be most beneficial to her.

Personality: Temari is a person that’s not afraid to speak her mind, especially if the individual deserves such a blunt response. If something bothers her about an individual, such as cowardice, she’ll likely say something to them, most notably if they’re male. That’s not to say she doesn’t show concern though, she can be caring to people in many situations, particularly if someone is hurt or upset. How she shows her concern varies on the individual and how comfortable she is letting them see her emotions. Anyone that can actually call her a close friend may get to see a softer side of the kunoichi, something she tries to hide from the rest of the world.
She enjoys fighting, and even gets a rush from the act, but she doesn’t often want to start a full war. She can see the reasoning in war, but she also sees the pain it can cause, particularly to the families of the lives that were lost. Given the chance, she’ll expend every resource to avoid war, even at the expense of her personal time. Part of the reason for this is that she feels great sympathy to children, wanting to protect them from having to see such brutalities. If asked, she’ll tell about battles, but she sees no reason for a young child to be put through actually seeing it, or the effects.
Being the Kagekaze’s daughter, she grew up even quicker than most ninjas, preferring to train and care for her young siblings rather than make friends; something that has badly hampered her socialization skills.
Through everything though, she would gladly give her life for her home and siblings, her loyalty and duty constantly at the forefront of her mind. In the big picture, her life means less to her than the safety of hundreds or her brothers safety. Having never had much in her life, when she has someone or something that means anything to her, she’ll fight to the death to protect them, her brothers more than any other.
Everything isn’t perfect between her and her brothers though, for all her talk, there is only one person she fears. Her youngest brother, Gaara. It pains her, but there is a good reason for her fear. Through their growing up, he often showed abusive tendencies to other children and herself, something that terrified the young girl. After being backhanded into a tree by Gaara in an early episode, she didn’t act surprised, she just took it with a hurt acceptance, something that shows that she’s been hit by him before. She tries not to let him see her fear though, preferring to smile and show a light and happy mood around him. With all he’s been through, she can understand why he is like he is. Knowing this, she doesn’t condemn him, instead opting to show him the love that he hadn’t been shown before. She does the same with her other brother, Kankuro.

Strengths: Temari’s strengths fall mostly from her analyzing abilities and long distance combat. Able to level a combat zone in a matter of minutes, she’s an invaluable ally to have, both in combat and in a purely strategic position. Even with being outsmarted in the Chunin exams, she has been called an excellent strategist, her abilities exceeding normal ninja.
Her fan has three strength settings, though she usually uses it at full power. The only exception to this rule is if she’s being cocky and wanting to show off and incite fear in her enemy or potential opponents, this was displayed during the Chunin exams where she drew out a simple battle to show off her abilities.
Aside from her physical abilities, Temari is confident and brash, having little patience for those she considers weaker than she herself is. Her compassion could also be considered strength, particularly after being able to keep her emotions while being a warlord’s daughter, though you can still tell that her family had a great influence on her. In battle, she’s particularly ruthless and shows little to no compassion to fallen enemies.

Weaknesses: Her skills in hand to hand combat fall below par, a result of simply being far too dependant on her fan through her ninja career. She fights well enough to escape most enemies, but given the chance, she could easily be overpowered while she is unarmed.
In addition, she is headstrong and cocky, something that gets her in trouble more often than not. While she has every reason to be confident in her abilities, it can also lead her to underestimating her opponents, something that was proven when Shikamaru took her by surprise during the Chunin exams. Being one of the strongest strategists from Suna, she is simply not used to being outsmarted.
Her confidence could be a weakness in the right situation, insisting on pressing forward and not retreating even when a situation gets drastically out of hand. Not wanting herself to appear weak to anyone, she won’t back down unless she’s directly ordered or she can see beyond a doubt that continuing will accomplish nothing.
Her duty towards her village and family can also be a downfall, going against her own heart to carry out her mission to the best of her ability. Though she voiced concerns about attacking Konoha, she still continued with the mission; fear of her brother and duty having been drilled into her head from a young age making her do something she felt in her heart was ultimately wrong.

History:
Naruto is a shonen series set in what seems to be some version of feudal Japan. They have samurai, ninjas and…technology. The story is mostly about Naruto and his ninja squad, following the life of Naruto and when the squad becomes split up, Sasuke; to an extent. None of that applies to Temari though, as one of the “Sand Siblings”, she is a secondary character and her information is as follows…
Each of the great ninja villages has a tailed beast. Sunagakure, the village hidden in the sand, has Shukaku, the one tailed raccoon. Since these tailed beasts have major God like strength, it’s near impossible to kill them. Just because they can’t be killed though, it doesn’t mean they can’t be subdued. One of the methods for subduing them, is sealing them inside a human host at the moment of their birth. Unfortunately for everyone in Suna, Shukaku is sealed in Temari’s youngest brother, Gaara. Their father sealed the demon inside his youngest child, resulting in the death of his wife Karura.
Not much is known about her childhood, all of the flashbacks being centered on Gaara. Her head-canon childhood will be included in the notes.
Her introduction into the Naruto is during the Chunin exams, along with her younger brothers. This is actually a secret operation where Sound Village and Sand Village want to infiltrate and destroy Konoha. Obviously, the best time for an invasion is a time when young ninja from every village gather in a central location, no one suspects anything when the siblings and the other operatives arrive and scout out the village. Gaara is the main player in this; the plan was to unleash Shukaku during the exams and using the beast to act as an unstoppable tank to destroy Konoha. One of the key acts to making the plan work, was everyone entering the exam and making it to the final round. Naturally, this wasn’t a problem for the siblings. Temari’s first opponent was Tenten, a kunoichi of the Leaf and a weapons master. Sadly, her skills could not even come close to comparing with Temari’s and she basically played with the girl, showing off her abilities and drawing out the battle. The battle ended swiftly when Temari reversed the tables and locked Tenten in the vortex of her Wind Scythe Jutsu, a brutal technique that caused Tenten to fall unconscious after enduring great pain. As she fell, Temari caught her on the end of her fan, letting her back hit the metal and very nearly breaking her back. Even after being declared the winner of the match, she threw her towards her fallen weapons, intending on further injuring her, this would have succeeded had Lee not jumped in to save Tenten after the battle.
Notes: In head-canon, When the Sand Siblings were children, their father kept Kankuro and Temari separated from Gaara. This was possibly one of the only things he’d ever done as a good father, protecting his children from the monster he created. Gaara was temperamental and attacked the other children, he didn’t want to put his daughter and son through that and risk them losing their lives. Because of this, there was no sibling bond created between the three, the only ones to bond were Temari and Kankuro.
As they got older, they were gradually introduced to Gaara when he acquired greater control over Shukaku. They’d heard the stories about him though, about how he killed their mother, and only saw a monster, they teased and picked on the boy…something that backfired on them. Their fathers worst nightmare came true, Gaara had enough one day and snapped. Temari and Kankuro weren’t the same after that, they saw the monster their brother truly was, as they healed, they swore to not take him so lightly again. He toyed with them, taunted them as they had to him, broke bones and made them suffer. Seeing what was happening, Baki was quick to intervene, quite possibly saving the lives of his young charges.
Gaara never quite forgave him for things, even as they grew older, continuing to abuse the pair whenever they stepped out of line. Temari could see how wrong they’d been and tried to amend the damage Kankuro and her caused their brother. She couldn’t blame him for still not caring for them, even as she felt a bond growing between them…they were heartless as children. Blaming him for things that weren’t his fault like their mother and uncles deaths…the one to be blamed was their father, he was the one that did everything, not Gaara.

Bonus: Spandy and Kim are horrible Enablers…
